Keep your UK number when you're in the USA

With eSIM you can keep using your UK number when you're in the USA. Because you don't need to remove your UK SIM Card/eSIM from your phone, you can keep it turned on, alongside your USA eSIM. Think of it like having a "dual SIM" phone. (You'll need to have international roaming enabled on your UK SIM Card for it to work in the USA to receive calls/texts to your UK number).

This is perfect for receiving important calls or texts (such as one-time passwords from your bank). Or if you want you can remove your UK physical SIM Card or turn off your UK eSIM for the duration of your trip.

You get exactly the same thing as if you had a physical USA SIM Card

With our USA eSIM you get exactly the same thing as if you had a physical USA SIM Card: you still get a USA phone number, you can still make and receive calls, you can still send and receive texts, you can still use 5G/4G data, and you can still use any add-ons.

Other eSIM providers limit you to data use only (no phone number, so no calls or texts). With our USA eSIM you still get a USA phone number and that's important for things like government forms, tour operators, your Uber app, etc.

eSIM is super easy to activate!

Don't worry you don't need a PhD in mobile phones to use eSIM! If you can open the Settings App on your phone, then you can use eSIM.

After you place an eSIM order, check your order confirmation email and reply to it with your phone's EID number (that's the serial number of your phone's eSIM found in your Settings), your phone's eSIM IMEI (also found in your Settings), and the date you want your eSIM to start working.

Your eSIM will then be activated by 6am US Pacific Time on the date you request.

If you have an iPhone then you'll get a notification on your iPhone to install the eSIM. Tap yes, and your eSIM will get set up in a few minutes. If you have a Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Pixel or other phone, you'll either get a notification on your phone to install the eSIM (just tap it to install) or you'll scan a QR code, and your eSIM will get set up in a few minutes.

But if you need to call people in the UK who don't use these apps, or you need to call UK landline numbers, we have the Call & Text Abroad Add-On. With this Add-On you get unlimited minutes and texts from the USA (excluding Alaska) to UK numbers (mobiles and landlines) for the duration of your bundle. This Add-On does not work when you're in Alaska. You'll also need this Add-On if you want to call UK phones being used in the USA (because you'll still be calling a UK mobile number).

With this Add-On you get 5GB of 4G data, plus unlimited minutes & texts to the USA, Canada and Mexico, and unlimited minutes & texts to anyone else using our SIM Card who also has this add-on, for the duration of your bundle. With the 60 day bundle you'll get 5GB valid for day 1-30, then a new 5GB valid for day 31-60. With the 90 day bundle you'll get 5GB valid for day 1-30, then a new 5GB valid for day 31-60, then a new 5GB valid for day 61-90.

This is a one-off purchase, so if you use up the 5GB you can't buy more data for Canada and Mexico.

10GB 5G/4G personal hotspot/tether data (full details)

Available with the 30 day bundle only: 10GB 5G/4G personal hotspot data (also called "tethering") for use in the USA only.

With all T-Mobile Extreme Bundles (5 days, 7, 10, 14, 21, 30, 45, 60 & 90 days) you get unlimited data on your phone at 5G/4G speed, but when you use your phone as a personal hotspot, the data is only at 3G speed. For example, if you connect your laptop or tablet, then the data speed on your laptop or tablet will only be 3G.

With the 30 day bundle + 10GB personal hotspot you get 10GB of personal hotspot data at at 5G/4G speed for use in the USA only. Once you use up to 10GB, you can still use personal hotspot (unlimited) but the hotspot data speed will revert back to 3G only.

10GB personal hotspot at 5G/4G speed is only available with the T-Mobile Extreme Bundle 30 days. For example, if you buy the 14 day plan you'll only get 3G speed when you hotspot. So if you want 10GB of personal hotspot data at 5G/4G speed then you'll need to buy the 30 day bundle + the hotspot add-on.

One off purchase: once you use up 10GB, hotspot reverts to unlimited at 3G speed (you can't add more 5G/4G speed hotspot).

Must be purchased in original order: you can't add it later, for example, if you decide a week after you arrive in the USA you want 5G/4G hotspot it's not possible.

Can I keep my WhatsApp number?

Yes. You don’t need to do anything to keep using WhatsApp with your UK number. You’ll keep your number, contacts and all your conversations. People in the UK will still keep messaging you on WhatsApp as normal.

Can I use the SIM Card/eSIM in the new iPhone 16?

Yes you can! Our USA PAYG bundles work in the new iPhone 16 (all models). You can chose our physical trio SIM or eSIM. We strongly recommend that you choose eSIM if you have iPhone 16 because eSIM is much easier, and it's better for the environment.

Will I get 5G?

Yes. All our bundles include 5G at no extra cost. There's no speed caps, daily data limits, throttling or shaping.

Which SIM Card/eSIM is best for me?

The SIM Card/eSIM you choose depends on what phone you'll be using. 

If you have an iPhone from iPhone 6 onwards including iPhone 14, you can choose the AT&T Extreme Bundle (with unlimited 5G/4G), the AT&T Max Bundle (with 15GB 5G/4G) or the T-Mobile Extreme Bundle (with unlimited 5G/4G).

Will the SIM Card/eSIM work in my phone? Is my phone compatible?

All iPhones (from iPhone 6 onwards) and Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Google, Xiaomi, Motorola, Nokia, LG + others work with our SIM Card, but it's important that you buy the right SIM Card for your phone.

If you have an iPhone 6 or newer iPhone (including iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro): you can choose the AT&T Extreme Bundle, the AT&T Max Bundle or the T-Mobile Extreme Bundle.

If you have a Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Google, Xiaomi, Motorola, Nokia, LG + others: you can choose the T-Mobile Extreme Bundle.

Can I use personal hotspot/tether my phone?

Personal hotspot (also called tethering) is when you share the data on your phone with other devices, such as an iPad, tablet, laptop, or games console.

If you want to use personal hotspot here's some information:

For the AT&T Extreme Bundle for iPhone you get 5GB data to use for personal hotspot/tether in the USA only (no personal hotspot in Canada or Mexico). Need more data? Choose an add-on to get a total of 10GB, 25GB, or 30GB data for personal hotspot. 

For the AT&T Max Bundle for iPhone personal hotspot is included so that means you can use any amount of the 15GB data for personal hotspot (at 5G/4G speeds), including in Canada or Mexico.

For the T-Mobile Extreme Bundle personal hotspot is included so that means you have unlimited data for personal hotspot (but data speeds will be 3G only when you hotspot/tether). You can purchase our 30 day bundle + 10GB personal hotspot data at 5G/4G speed.

What's the network coverage like?

For our T-Mobile SIM Card you can check network coverage here. There is NO network coverage in Alaska with our T-Mobile SIM Card: the T-Mobile SIM Card does not work in Alaska.

What's the difference between AT&T and T-Mobile?
AT&T and T-Mobile are two of America's major mobile networks.
According to Statista.com, AT&T is the leading provider of mobile services in the United States (U.S.) with a market share of about 44.8 percent of mobile subscriptions in the third quarter of 2022. T-Mobile has 23.76%.
Both networks offer coverage across all US mainland states, Hawaii and Alaska.
AT&T has better coverage if you're heading outside of major cities, for example into rural areas, national parks or doing a long road trip.
T-Mobile has NO network coverage in Alaska (the T-Mobile SIM Card will NOT work in Alaska).

Swapping SIM Cards doesn't change or delete the photos, apps, emails or settings on your phone. These are all stored on your phone, and not on the SIM Card.

How do I set up the eSIM? Is it easy to do?

eSIM is super easy to set-up. In fact, it's even easier than buying a physical SIM Card because with eSIM you don't have to fiddle about with swapping SIM Cards. eSIM is set-up via email.

If you choose eSIM, check your order confirmation email after you order for eSIM instructions. You'll need to reply to it with your phone's EID number and the eSIM IMEI (these are the unique details about the eSIM in your phone). The EID and IMEI are what the mobile network uses to identify your phone and activate the eSIM. We input these details into the T-Mobile/AT&T activation system, and that's it. Then when you get to the USA your eSIM will be working as soon as your plane lands. No need to remove your UK SIM Card and insert a USA SIM Card.

How quickly can you set-up an eSIM?

Does the SIM Card/eSIM work in Alaska?

The AT&T SIM Card/eSIM works in Alaska for calls, texts and data.

The T-Mobile SIM Card/eSIM does NOT work in Alaska.

Does the SIM Card work in Canada or Mexico?

Our AT&T Extreme Bundle for iPhone and AT&T Max Bundle for iPhone include free roaming in Canada and Mexico. Our T-Mobile Extreme Bundle for All Phones has an optional Canada & Mexico Add-On for just £4.99.

However, you must first use the SIM Card in the USA to be able to use it in Canada or Mexico. So if you're traveling direct to Canada or Mexico the SIM Card won't work. But if you're transiting via Los Angeles or San Francisco or New York, or another US city, just use your phone for a bit at the airport (make a call, send a text, use some data). You'll then be able to use it in Canada and Mexico.

 

Does the SIM Card/eSIM work in the UK?

No.

Our SIM Cards and eSIMs do not work in the UK. There is no roaming and you cannot pay extra for roaming.

You can NOT use our SIM Cards or eSIMS for 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) texts or calls for a US bank account, TikTok, WhatsApp or any other service that requires a 2FA text or call.

We have no SIM Cards or eSIMs that will work in the UK and we have no suggestions. Please do not buy our SIM Card or eSIM if your intention is to use it in the UK. You won't get a refund.

Does the SIM Card/eSIM work in Europe?

No. Unfortunately our SIM Cards and eSIMs do not work in Europe. There is no roaming and you cannot pay extra for roaming.

This means you won't be able to receive or make calls in Europe, and you won't be able to receive or send SMS texts in Europe.

Please do not buy the SIM Card if you're intention is to use it in Europe. You won't get a refund.

Can I use your SIM Card/eSIM to receive verification codes/one-time passwords in the UK

No. Our SIM Cards and eSIMs don't work in the UK. You won't be able to receive verification codes or one-time passwords when you're in the UK.

Does the SIM Card/eSIM work on a Caribbean cruise?

The SIM Card will not work onboard a cruise ship while at sea.

Our SIM Cards will work in Puerto Rico. They will not work in other Caribbean destinations including St Martins (which is a part of the Netherlands) or St Kitts (which is an independent territory covered by the United Nations Multi-Country Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean).

If you purchase the T-Mobile Extreme Bundle and the Canada/Mexico Add-On then you'll be able to use the SIM Card when you're on land in Mexico.

If you purchase the AT&T Extreme Bundle or the AT&T Max Bundle then you get free roaming in Mexico.

 

Will I get a USA mobile number?

Yes - you'll have a real USA phone number with our SIM Card. You can write the phone number on your baggage labels, government forms, give to tour operators, update your Uber phone number, and give to family and friends in the UK.

You can find out your phone number by looking in your phone settings once you get to the USA.

If you need to know your USA phone number before you leave for the USA there's two options:

(a) you could request an activation date that is earlier than the actual date you arrive in the USA. Then email us the next day to find out your number. If you do this remember that day 1 is the activation date you request and time doesn't stop. This won't be a problem if, for example, you have a 30 day SIM Card, you're in the USA for 22 days, and you request an activation date that's five days before you arrive.

(b) if you have our AT&T SIM Card you can pay a £24.99 early activation fee and we can tell you your USA phone number up to one (1) week before the date you arrive in the USA. Day 1 will still be the day you arrive in the USA. For this option you'll find more details in the activation instructions that come with the SIM Card.

If someone in the UK needs to call or text you, they’ll be calling or text a USA number, so it will cost them whatever their phone plan charges to call or text a USA number (some phone plans included unlimited free calls and texts to USA numbers).

How and when do I activate the SIM Card?

When you receive your USA SIM Card, follow the easy activation instructions where you'll go to our website to activate your SIM Card. Select the date you want your bundle to start, and your SIM Card will be working from that date. Then just insert the SIM Card into your phone on arrival in the USA and you'll be good to go!

Do I have to get my phone unlocked to use the USA SIM Card/eSIM?

Your phone must be network unlocked to use our USA SIM Card (or indeed to use any other SIM Card). Your phone might be network locked to your network provider (for example, locked to EE, O2, Vodafone or Three). Getting your phone unlocked means that you can use it with different network providers and with different SIM Cards including our SIM Card.

How to check if your iPhone is unlocked: go to Settings > General > About. If “No SIM restrictions” appears next to Network Provider Lock, your iPhone is unlocked. If it’s locked, it will say something like "This device might be restricted to the original network provider...". Read more below about getting your iPhone unlocked.

How to check if you don’t have an iPhone if it’s locked: insert another SIM Card into your phone from a different provider, restart your phone, and if the different provider name appears in the status bar, then your phone is unlocked. If your phone is locked you’ll get an error message saying you need to insert a valid SIM Card, in which case contact your network provider and request an unlock (read more below).

Need to unlock your phone? If you have an iPhone then the Apple website provides handy information about how to unlock your iPhone. Additionally you can also check out the EE website, O2 website, Vodafone website or Three website for more information about unlocking your phone.

I'm not leaving for several weeks/months. When should I buy my USA SIM Card/eSIM?

You can order your SIM Card as far in advance as you want. In fact, that's the best thing to do, rather than leave it to the last minute! Don't worry because your SIM Card only starts from the date you select when you activate the SIM Card.

Can I call and text the UK?

With all of our SIM Cards you'll be able to use WhatsApp, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger etc to call and send messages to family and friends in the UK. These apps use your data.

Sometimes though you might need to call or text someone in the UK who doesn't have a Smartphone, or you need to call a home phone number, or call your bank, or things like that. For this we offer the following:

(a) with our AT&T SIM Cards you get unlimited free texts to the UK included, and you can buy an optional calling abroad add-on to call the UK (mobiles and landlines).

(b) with our T-Mobile SIM Card you can buy an optional calling & texting abroad add-on to text UK mobiles and call UK mobiles and landlines.

Can someone in the UK call & text me?

Yes. All our bundles (including eSIM) come with a USA mobile number. So your family, friends, and work colleagues in the UK can call & text you.

It's free for you to receive calls & texts, but the person calling and texting you will be charged the cost of a call or text to a USA number.

When does my bundle start? From the moment I purchase it?

The days on your bundle start from the date you request when you activate the SIM Card.

The days DO NOT start from the moment that you purchase the SIM Card on our website.

When you receive your SIM Card, follow the easy instructions which explain how to go to the activation request website and input the USA date that you want the bundle to start. That date will be day 1. The bundle will expire after 11:59pm US Central Time on the final day. For our AT&T SIM Card that will be the 30th day, but for our T-Mobile SIM Card that will be either the 7th, 14th day, 21st day, 30th day of 60th day (depending on which bundle you bought).

Or if you buy an eSIM, we'll email you after you order to ask for the date you want your eSIM to start working.

I'm staying longer than 30 days, what should I do?

You can purchase our T-Mobile 45 day, 60 day or 90 day bundle, or you can purchase a top-up but you must purchase it before your current bundle ends. After your current bundle ends you can't top-up and your USA number cannot be re-used.

You can purchase a top-up of our AT&T Extreme or AT&T Max bundle within 90 days of the original activation date of your SIM Card/eSIM bundle. After then you can't top-up and your USA number cannot be re-used.

Can I re-use my phone SIM Card/eSIM for another trip?

You can top-up your SIM Card/eSIM only in the following circumstances:

If you have our T-Mobile Extreme Bundle SIM Card/eSIM, you must purchase a top-up before your current bundle ends. After your bundle ends you can't top-up and the phone number associated with your SIM Card/eSIM cannot be re-used.

If you have our AT&T Extreme Bundle SIM Card/eSIM or our AT&T Max Bundle SIM Card/eSIM, you can purchase a top-up within 90 days from when your SIM Card was activated. After this time you can't top-up and the phone number associated with your SIM Card/eSIM cannot be re-used.

Can you help set up the SIM Card and teach me how to use it?

We can come to you in your home and help with setting everything up, including showing you how to insert the SIM Card, set up APN settings on your phone, select the activation date and answer any questions you have. There is a fee of £149 fee for this service plus travel costs if you live outside of London.
